  15. the American Conservatory Theater; in Los Angeles. Launched in
  16. 1965 in Pittsburgh and moved to San Francisco in 1967, A.C.T.
  17. has earned a reputation as one of the nation's most creative
  18. nonprofit theaters. Ball's repertory performances and advanced
  19. training techniques nurtured actors' flamboyance through a
  20. variety of physical gestures, from boisterous laughter to
  21. karate. Among the plays he directed were Tartuffe, Under Milk
  22. Wood and Tiny Alice.
